Twitter is reportedly planning to remove the ability to ‘like’ tweets in a radical move that aims to improve the quality of debate on the social network.
Founder Jack Dorsey recently admitted that he was not a fan of the heart-shaped button and that Twitter would be getting rid of it ‘soon’ as he tries to make the social platform a ‘healthier place’.
Psychologists have suggested that the ‘like’ button concept may be causing social media addiction among users who crave endorsement from their peers and will delete a post if they have not received enough ‘likes’ shortly after.
Snapchat has brought its filters to desktop with the launch of Snap Camera. Available for Mac and Windows, Snap Camera integrates apps including Twitch, YouTube, Skype and Zoom and allows users to use Snapchat filters while streaming a game of Fortnite or catching up with friends and family on Skype. For Snap, a move to the desktop represents a way to extend its reach into users’ lives.

Selena Gomez has just lost her title as the most-followed person on Instagram to Cristiano Ronaldo.
While Cristiano and Selena have been neck and neck for the throne, Cristiano finally took over as the most followed person on the platform with 114,316,082 followers – whereas Selena has 114,311,124 followers.
This shift comes a month after Selena went on an Instagram break in order to ‘live my life present to the moment I have been given’.
Donald Trump has complained that fewer people are following him on Twitter, accusing the site of undermining him.
Twitter has removed many people from my account and, more importantly, they have seemingly done something that makes it much harder to join – they have stifled growth to a point where it is obvious to all. A few weeks ago it was a Rocket Ship, now it is a Blimp! Total Bias?

Twitter did conduct a major effort to purge the site of fake and inactive accounts and bots which may have reduced his follower numbers– but surely the President of the United States has more important issues to worry about…?
